It’s important to know your customer especially when your providing them with credit. At Custom Collection Services we can supply you with a quick check list of what you should know and also do ASIC Company and Business Name checks online for you to verify your customers details. A company search will confirm directors details and a business name search will verify the proprietor details. These searches are a quick and cost effective way of confirming the details of who you are dealing with in the business or company. Once you come on board as a Custom Collection Services customer we can provide you with the documentation to put on your letter head which will cover all the legal requirements for giving credit.
ASIC is Australia’s corporate, markets and financial services regulator. They contribute to Australia’s economic reputation and wellbeing by ensuring that Australia’s financial markets are fair and transparent, supported by confident and informed investors and consumers. They are an independent Commonwealth Government body. They were set up under and administer the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act (ASIC Act), and they carry out most of their work under the Corporations Act.
They regulate Australian companies, financial markets, financial services organisations and professionals who deal and advise in investments, superannuation, insurance, deposit taking and credit. As the corporate regulator, they are responsible for ensuring that company directors and officers carry out their duties honestly, diligently and in the best interests of their company. As the markets regulator, they assess how effectively authorised financial markets are complying with their legal obligations to operate fair, orderly and transparent markets. They also advise the Minister about authorising new markets. As the financial services regulator, they license and monitor financial services businesses to ensure that they operate efficiently, honestly and fairly. These businesses typically deal in superannuation, managed funds, shares and company securities, derivatives, and insurance. They have powers to protect consumers against misleading or deceptive and unconscionable conduct affecting all financial products and services, including credit.
